Track and Field Raiders Shine at the District 7B Championship Meet
The Track and Field Raiders girls team claimed the District 7B Championship with a whopping 147 points and the boys team made runners-up, missing first place by only 4 points. It was a night of top performances by the team members with many new PRs, top place finishes and regional qualifiers. Annie Fink was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer and John Spillane shares the title of Most Outstanding Track Performer with Connor Dudoussat from Kenner Discovery-Health Sciences Academy.
Our podium finishers include, Eli Todaro took 2nd for Javelin, John Spillane placed 1st in the 100m/200m and 2nd in Long Jump, Ryan Ly was 1st in the 300m hurdles and 2nd in the 100m hurdles, the 4x200m Relay team placed 1st place (Eric Ho, Ben Holliday, Ryan Ly, John Spillane), London Deshotel took 1st 100m hurdles/300m hurdles and high jump, Ryan Roper placed 3rd in 300m hurdles, the 4x100m team placed 3rd (Anna Claire Courville, Blaiklee Guillot, Angele Lansing, Julia Sager), the 4x200 relay team took 3rd (Anna Claire Courville, Blaiklee Guillot, Sydney Worsham, Angele Lansing), the 4x400m relay team placed 1st (Annie Fink, Micah Roper, Sydney Worsham, Ryan Roper), Dawson Latona won 1st in the 1600m/3200m and 2nd in the 800m, Eric Ho was 3rd in the 1600m/3200m, Blaiklee Guillot placed 1st in the 400m and 2nd in the 200m, Annie Fink placed 1st in the 1600m/800m and 2nd in the 400m, Micah Roper was 1st in the 3200m and 2nd in the 800m/1600m, and Sydney Worsham placed 2nd in the 3200m.
The Raiders qualifying for regional include all those that finished in the top 4: Annie Fink in the 1600m, 800m, 400m; Girls 4x200m Relay, 4x100m Relay, and 4x400m Relay; Micah Roper for the 1600m, 800m and 3200m; London Deshotel for the Javelin, High Jump, 100m hurdles, and 300m hurdles; Ryan Roper in the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles; Blaiklee Guillot for the 200m and 400m; Sydney Worsham in the 3200m; Eli Todaro for the Javelin; John Spillane for the Long Jump, 100m and 200m; Dawson Latona in the 800m, 1600m and 3200m; Eric Ho in the 1600m and 3200m; Ryan Ly in the 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles; the Boys 4x200m Relay and 4x100m Relay; and Ben Holliday for the 300m hurdles.
Track and Field Head Coach Julie Fink is grateful to everyone that helped host the District 7B Track and Field Meet. Fink said, “We put on a fantastic meet due to all our wonderful volunteers - parents, faculty and friends!”
The Regional meet will be held April 22 at McNeese. The top 3 finishers at the Regional meet qualify for the state championship.
Seniors Micah Roper, London Deshotel, Ian Lansing and Anna Claire Courville were honored following the meet.
