Sixth-Grade Presidential Scholars Honored
Thirty Runnels Elementary students have qualified for the prestigious President’s Education Award for the 2017-2018 school year. The honor, which recognizes outstanding scholastic achievement and effort, is presented in the 6th, 8th and 12th grades at Runnels. To qualify for the award, students must earn a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 for grades 4, 5, and 6 combined and score an 85 percent or greater on either Total Math or Total Reading on their most recently administered nationally standardized test.
Fifty-six percent of the sixth-grade class qualified for this award, which was presented at the Sixth-Grade Graduation Ceremony held May 23 in the Gladys Hague Runnels Theatre.
The Presidential Award winners are Kareem Badawi, Malek Badawi, Alexandra Bethea, Cole Brown, Chloe Bueche, Katherine Campbell, Olivia Chaisson, Cooper Coates, Arthur Donaldson, Aidan Dooley, George Forgey, Madeline Golden, Summer Guerin, Ben Hader, Rossie Harrison, Caleb Johnston, Alaysia Mandujano, Gavin Oram, Raegan Oubre, Poppy Pellissier, Wilks Pittman, Caroline Pousson, Stuart Roark, Megan Shaneyfelt, Mikalyn Shay, Paul Stevenson, Lauren Tolson, Addison Watson, Harrison White, and Olivia Williams.
