Mary Poppins the Broadway Musical in Production at Runnels

The magical world of Mary Poppins comes to life on the stage of the Gladys Hague Runnels Theatre Jan. 19-21 when our junior and senior high drama department presents Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins the Broadway Musical. 
The production will run for three performances -- Jan. 19 and 20 at 7:00 pm and Jan. 21 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $12.00 for adults and $10.00 for students (with an I.D.) if purchased in advance online ( and $15.00 at the door. (Online sales close 12 hours prior to each performance.) 
Based on the children’s books by P.L. Travers and the 1964 film starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, Mary Poppins the Broadway Musical takes us once more to the Banks home at Number 17 Cherry Tree Lane where trouble is brewing. The mischievous children have sent another nanny scurrying out the door and a new one is required right away. The mysterious Mary Poppins suddenly arrives to accept the job and take the children on a series of newly imagined magical adventures accompanied by the chimney sweep, Bert.
The Runnels production features a live band conducted by Jill Swetnam, with choreograpahy by Rachel Harper-Hart and vocal direction by Aaron Turnipseed. Junior Camille Doucet is the stage manager and Jenna Carballo as assistant stage manager. Students will design the sets and the technical theater classes will run the show. Directing the musical is Runnels K-12 Theater Program Chair Neena McLain. 
Leading the 7th-12th-grade cast are Kayla Evans as Mary Poppins, Alex Morgan as Bert, Tyler Robbins as George Banks, Sophia Torres as Winifred Banks, Madisan Milam as Jane Banks and Evan Shaneyfelt as Michael Banks.  
Also featured are Natalia Tooraen as Katie Nana, Riley Mockler as the Policeman, Aubri Watts as Miss Lark, Landon Simpson as Admiral Boom, Jenny Cook as Mrs. Brill, Sophie Edwards as the Bird Woman, Abby Robbins as Robertson Ay, Peter Lukinovich as the Park Keeper, Jade Tew as Neleus, Eli Latiolais as the Bank Chairman, Haley Brassard as Miss Smythe, Garrett Miller as Von Hussler, Joshua Freeman as Northbrook, Kyra Reeves as Mrs. Cory, Katie Brigman as Annie, Ella Brigman as Fannie, Phoebe Koontz as Valentine, and Madaleine Alessi as Miss Andrew. 
Ensemble members are Amelia Breeden, Piper Davis, Madeleine Reonas, Sophia Horridge, Sadie Alello, Caroline Collins, Alex Matthews, Simone Sharp, Preston Kyle, Mollybeth Wilkinson, Kissa Nicholas-Whitt, Natalie Fairley and Jackie Hinkle.
