Both campuses of Runnels School will be CLOSED tomorrow, April 18 due to forecasts of enhanced risks of severe weather in the Baton Rouge area. All activities and field trips scheduled for tomorrow have been postponed. With safety as our primary concern, we are closing out of an abundance of caution. Danielle Coniglio '13 for being awarded Southeastern Louisiana University’s President’s Medal for Academic Excellence at the school’s spring 2017 commencement exercises held in Hammond on May 13. Danielle, who received her bachelor’s degree in marketing at the ceremony, is one of only 19 graduates in a class of more than 1,000 to receive the prestigious medal, which goes to students earning the highest cumulative grade-point average in the university’s five colleges. She graduated with a grade-point average of 4.0.

Sarah Garrett '14, now completing her junior year at ULL, is one of only five students to receive the very first Nancy F. Link Visual Arts Scholarship in Honor of Elemore Morgan, Jr.  The scholarship was presented at an award reception held Wednesday at the university. Sarah is majoring in Animation and hopes to have a career with Pixar, DreamWorks or Disney Animation.

Noelle Morris '14 plays for the University of Mobile Lady Rams as a Point and Shooting Guard. She is a three year letter winner.
At the SSAC (Southern States Athletic Conference) Tournament this past weekend, Noelle was recognized for Champions of Character. Each National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes member institution develops and implements a Champions of Character campus program that includes:
• Ongoing character education and professional development for coaches, athletics administrative staff and student-athletes
• Putting values into play through game management of athletics events and standards for conduct in competition
• Student-athletes sharing the character message with 
their campus and conference communities
She was also recognized as 1st All-Conference Academic Team and she is on the Deans List at the Univ of Mobile.
University of Mobile won the SSAC (Southern States Athletic Conference) Tourney this weekend and will compete the National Tournament that is played March 14th - 18th in Billings Montana.

Blake Stafford '09 in his third year of law school is first in his class at Wake Forest University. On February 2, Blake participated as part of a team in the National Moot Court Competition. After completing U.S. Marine Corps basic training on Parris Island in North Carolina, PFC Garrett Deshotels '15 returned to Runnels for a visit. On Homecoming weekend, the former Raider basketball player had a game of hoops on our new court with some of his teammates and current players. 
Wearing his uniform, Garrett also paid a visit to his brother's (Sean McGee) 5th grade classroom this week. While he was in boot camp, the 5th graders in Ms. Wilkinson's English classes had written him letters.  Garrett read to the students and let them try on his military cap. Garrett will be returning to Parris Island for Infantry Training.

Matt Rice ‘13, now a senior at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, continues to accrue honors as a cross country runner. Matt finished in the top 15 at the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Oct. 30 to earn All-SBC honors. Click here to check out his current stats as a Ragin’ Cajun.
