Bookends

Elementary Library Volunteers, “BOOKENDS”

The elementary librarian is assisted by a volunteer group of parents known as the "Bookends." This group reads selected books to the students and assists with Accelerated Reader quizzes. Volunteers may also shelve and repair books, help the librarian with book fairs and other special fundraising events such as the Used Book Sale, Raider Rally, the Scholastic Book Fair and the annual Visual and Performing Arts Showcase at Barnes & Noble.

Proceeds from these special events are used to expand library holdings. "Bookends" and "Book Fair Coordinators" work with the elementary librarian through the RPO (Runnels Parents Organization).

Click here to sign up to volunteer at the annual Fall Scholastic Book Fair.

Any parent is welcome to become a “Bookend.” For more information: bookends@runnels.org or elemlibraryevents@runnels.org.

Celebration Book Club

The Celebration Book Club was created to give members of the Runnels School family a way to celebrate an occasion, honor an event, or remember a loved one through a book donation to the library. Your donation will be used to purchase a book of your choice.  A bookplate will be made and placed in the newly acquired book announcing your participation and honoring your loved one or special occasion. Please contact the elementary librarian (225.751.5712/ j.orgeron@runnels.org) if you would like to participate in our Celebration Book Club.
